# How to create a backup disk (for `soispha.services.backup`) ## Find the disk ```bash lsblk -o "NAME,MAJ:MIN,RM,SIZE,RO,FSTYPE,MOUNTPOINT,UUID" # or sudo fdisk -l ``` ## Check it ```bash sudo smartctl --test=short /dev/disk # or better: sudo smartctl --test=long /dev/disk # Run this to avoid a test timeout (otherwise the disk might go to sleep): sudo watch --differences --interval 60 smartctl --log=selftest /dev/disk ``` ## Add it ``` sudo mkfs.btrfs /dev/disk --label backup ``` And change the `backupUuid` to the uuid of the new disk.
